Citation, commencement and extent 1.
(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Sentencing Act 2020 (Special Procedures for Community and Suspended Sentence Orders) (Amendment) Regulations 2025.
(2) Subject to paragraph (3), these Regulations come into force on 13th December 2025.
(3) Regulation 2 comes into force on 25th December 2025.
(4) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.

It specifies that most of the regulations become legally effective on December 13, 2025, but Regulation 2 starts slightly later, on December 25, 2025.

In the Sentencing Act 2020 (Special Procedures for Community and Suspended Sentence Orders) Regulations 2023, in regulation 3, for the words from “of” to “force” substitute “beginning with the day on which these Regulations come into force and ending with 31st March 2029”.
This regulation directly modifies the 2023 Regulations concerning special sentencing procedures.
It revises regulation 3 by replacing the existing text describing the time frame with a new definition.
The new timeframe dictates that the special procedures apply to orders made from the day these current amending regulations come into effect, extending up to and including March 31, 2029.

This instruction similarly amends the Sentencing Act 2020 (Special Procedures for Community and Suspended Sentence Orders) Regulations 2024.
It updates regulation 3 in those 2024 regulations using the identical replacement text.
