The Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority Regulations 2025
The Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority Regulations 2025 establish a new combined county authority for Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, and North East Lincolnshire. The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 9, 10, and 13, and 16, 18 and 19, and 22, 27, 30, and 32 to 52, 53, 54, 252 and of, paragraph 3 of Schedule 1 to and paragraph 3 of Schedule 2 to the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023.
The regulations draw authority from the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023, which provides the legal framework for establishing combined county authorities.
The Secretary of State exercises specific powers granted under various sections of this Act to create the new authority.
There is established a combined county authority for the Area. The combined county authority is to be a body corporate and is to be known as the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority.
Creates a new legal entity called the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority.
As a body corporate, it has its own legal identity distinct from its constituent members and can enter into contracts, own property, and exercise legal rights.
There is to be a mayor for the Area. The first election for the return of a mayor for the Area is to take place on 1st May 2025. Subsequent elections for the return of a mayor for the Area must take place in every fourth year thereafter on the same day as the ordinary day of election.
Mandates the creation of a directly elected mayoral position for the combined authority.
The first mayoral election will occur on May 1st, 2025, with subsequent elections every four years, aligning with regular local election cycles.
